Citrine: What is it? What are the metaphysical properties and lore of Citrine?

Citrine is the yellow to red-orange type of crystalline quartz. This stone is naturally yellow, orange, and reddish tones. Stones with less intense color fall into lower value ranges, with pale or smoky stones at the lower end

Metaphysical Properties and Lore:

Citrine is one of the few minerals on the planet which does not hold onto negative energy. Thus, this stone is an incredible energy amplifier and cleanser. Citrine dissipates and transmutes negative energy.

  • Chakra: Citrine activates, opens and re-energizes the navel and solar plexus chakras thus increasing mental focus and endurance.

Birthstone:

Citrine is now a modern alternative birthstone for those born in November.

Treatment & Enhancements:

  • Enhancements: Several stones can be enhanced to change them into citrine. For example, amethyst and smoky quartz can be heat treated to create citrine. (The vast majority of citrine now available on the market is produced this way due to the low quantity of natural citrine that is available for mining.)
  • Treatment: These stones are typically heat-treated to enhance color.

Caring for your Citrine stone:

Citrines is a durable jewelry stone that require little special care. However, heat-treated stones may fade when exposed to heat. Avoid steam cleaning or boiling your citrine jewelry. Use warm water and very mild soap.
